the Great Vigée LeBrun Coincidence

Grand Duchess Alexandra and Elena Pavlovna painted by Elisabeth Vigée LeBrun

painted by Mme. Elisabeth Vigée LeBrun

Your favorite blog hostess was clicking through some sites on the Romanovs looking for some tiara informantion (what else do we do here?)

Low! What do I come across? This adorable picture of Grand Duchesses Alexandra and Elena Pavlovna painted by none other than Elisabeth Vigée LeBrun, ‘Toinette’s favorite portrait painter!

(BTW, Alexandra and Elena were the daughters of Tsar Paul I of Russia and his second wife Sophie Dorothea of Württemberg.)

Guess the blue moon is still bringing those happy coincidences….
