Ok, there are 2 truths of which most of us are aware:
1.Madame Tussaud created many wax figures of those found ’round Versailles; almost all were carved from life. (She was in France in the late 18th.)
2. Many of us picture du Barry as a raven-haired seductress mainly as a result of Sofía Coppola’s flick. (Did you know Angelina Jolie was her first choice?)
These two factoids aside, Mme. Tussaud did not merely sculpt those death masks at which we’ve previously shuddered. As you can tell from the tow-headed lady reclining for some much needed beauty sleep, she recreated many of these personages in everyday situations.
It IS none other than the infamous du Barry catching her ZZZs while her golden locks spill around her.
