this is an excellent interview done in 2010 by the Fricke Foundation. A brilliant conversation with the dowager duchess.
The chairs they are sitting in (and certain other furnishings at the Frick) are from the now demolished Devonshire House in London. A predecessor of the dowager duchess, the ninth duchess and daughter of Lansdowne House, was quite a conservator and saved much of the fittings from the lost Devonshire town home. She catalogued and put the lot in storage, where it was sold off later to pay taxes and keep Chatsworth going. Devonshire owes a lot to Lansdowne.

[Nostalgic ‘awww!] The Frick is my favorite museum in NYC. Frick himself was an avid collector, bringing in tons of art from Europe. I did a post on it back in 2012. I must rewatch! I didn’t even notice which room they were in. Thanks for your comment!
